CineStill BwXX (Double-X) B&W Film 135-36

CineStill BwXX is a variable speed, classic black & white film, with an ISO-rating of 250 under daylight and 200 under tungsten lighting. Recommended development in Kodak D-96 developer or Df96 Monobath, but it's compatible with Kodak D-76, HC-110 and all other black and white film developers.

Double-X is a classic black and white film stock produced by Kodak which has been left relatively unchanged since it's release in 1959 for still and motion picture use.

Some of the movies using the classic Eastman Double-X film stock 5222 include:

Raging Bull (1980), Schindler's List (1993), Stranger Than Paradise (1984), Memento (2000), Kafka (1991), Casino Royale (2006), I'm Not There (2007), Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003), Manhattan (1979), Cinderella Man (2005), Aferim! (2015), Frantz (2016), American Horror Story (2011-2017) and many more.

CineStill BwXX is an excellent choice for those looking for a classic film stock to fill the void left by the discontinuation of it's wonderful sister films, Kodak Plus-x (discontinued in 2010) and TXP320.

The film contains 36 exposures and has been professionally spooled into high quality 135 dx-coded cartridges.

Developing time for normal contrast: +- 6 minutes (20 °C). Harder contrast is obtained at a developing time of 7 minutes (20 °C) or more.

Bellini (Kodak) D96 Film Developer - 1L

Today there are several black-and-white negative films on the market that are based on black-and-white motion picture stocks. This gives photographers finally the ability to experiment with these film stocks for normal still photography. The most well-known motion picture film which can be put in this category is Kodak Double-X (= CineStill BwXX, Camera Film Photo Double X, Silberra 52XX). Kodak developed a proprietary film developer for this motion picture film stock, called Kodak D96. Until today this developer was only available in industrial-sized quantities. Luckily the Italian photo chemistry manufacturer Bellini is able to offer this developer in smaller bottles of 1 liter for personal use. This makes we can now finally unlock the full potential of these black-and-white movie film stocks! Yeey!

Bellini D96 is a low-contrast film developer. Contrast can be controlled by using different development times, increasing the development time will result in added contrast. It's that simple. It is recommended to not dilute the developer and to only use it as a stock solution. It can of course be re-used when stored properly. When the developer is exhausted it will show a fall in contrast productivity. We recommended to use airtight storage bottles and an anti-oxidizing spray like Tetenal Protectan to get maximum shelf life.

Performs best in combination with the following films: CineStill BwXX, CFP Double-X, Orwo UN54, Orwo N74 and Ferrania P30.

It is recommended to use this developer with the accompanying fixer/hardener, Bellini FX5 which is similar to Kodak F-5 but can also be used with standard fix solutions.

Developing time for normal contrast: +- 6 minutes (20 °C). Harder contrast is obtained at a developing time of 7 minutes (20 °C) or more.

Bellini Odourless Stop Bath - 1L

The Odourless Stop Bath from Bellini is an inexpensive, universal stop bath that can be used with almost all black-and-white films and photographic papers on the market today. The stop bath is based on acetic acid and is very economical to use with a standard dilution ratio of 1+19. It is a viable alternative to the well-known Rapid Fixer from Ilford.

The stop bath has the following capacity:

  • About 30 black-and-white films (35mm or roll film) or

  • 6 to 10 m² black-and-white photo paper (RC) or

  • 2 to 6 m² black-and-white photo paper (FB)

Bellini FX100 Universal Fixer - 1L

Bellini FX100 is an affordable and durable universal fixer for both black-and-white films and photographic papers and is based on ammonium-iposolite. Unlike other fixing baths on the market, this solution is quickly and easily removed from the film or paper surface resulting in shorter washing times.

Dilution: 1+4 (film) and 1+9 (photographic paper RC or FB).
