The Basic Film Carrier 35 extends that ease and access, allowing you to easily scan and share your photographs with friends and loved ones.
Using a digital camera (DSLR, mirrorless, etc.) to capture your scans, most users of the Basic Film Carrier can utilize the digital camera they already own. Many modern digital cameras, from entry level to professional, will allow you to make beautiful film scans with this device. With a solid hand assembled build, the body of the device is produced in house in the United States using a proprietary process pioneered by Negative Supply utilizing 3D Printed Carbon Fiber PETG and bonded Tolex (what’s on the outside of audio equipment and guitar amplifiers). Using fasteners, 3D Printing, and the very best 3M adhesive, this device solidly lives up to the Negative Supply standards.
The Basic Film Carrier 35 will keep your 35mm film perfectly flat thanks to the unique channel guides and allows you to scan a full length roll of film in as fast as two minutes. Keeping negatives flat is the main purpose of film holders like these, as perfectly flat negatives result in the best digital files (scans). Negative Supply already has a wide ecosystem of high-end film scanning tools, this device is the perfect starting point for photographers of all skill levels and offers excellent results at its price point.
Next to a digital camera and the Basic Film Carrier 35 unit, you'll also need a tripod or copy stand to perfectly position the camera above the film negative. Also a light source is needed to illuminate your film negatives to capture every detail of your photographs. For this you can use a tablet, one of the Slimlite light boxes from Kaiser and for the best results a high-quality light source with a high CRI.
