The professional tank lid (Prolid) is the long awaited accessory for the Ars-Imago Lab-Box. This tank lid upgrades your Lab-Box into a professional developing tank that gives you full control over the development process of black-and-white and color films.
The built-in timer and temperature probe add a number of important functions to your Lab-Box that will also interest the more experienced analog photographers.
This professional tank lid replaces the original tank lid of the Lab-Box and does not require any special actions to place the lid on the tank.
Timer
The timer that is integrated in the tank lid allows you to precisely follow all the phases of the developing process, without the need of other external devices. Moreover you can save 3 different time series which may be called for immediately with the dedicated T1, T2, T3 buttons. Useful for when you've already established a familiar developing process for some of your favorite films, for example HP5 in XTOL, RPX 400 in RPX-D,... or for a C-41 development kit.
Temperature Control
The Lid also has a stainless steel temperature probe which can measure the temperature of liquids inside the tank during the process. This built-in thermometer is especially useful when developing color films in the C-41 process (negatives) or E-6 process (slides). Both are temperature-sensitive processes in which the temperature of the photo chemistry requires special attention. Note that this probe only measures the temperature and therefore does not bring the chemistry up to temperature. There are other solutions on the market for that such as CineStill's TCS-1000.
Pouring chemicals just got easier
Compared to the original tank lid of the Lab-Box, the design of the professional lid has been improved which allows you to pour chemicals easier. The bigger front tray now allows a faster way to pour your liquids in and out.
