Write first reviewThe German brand Jobo, which is most known for its film and paper processors, used to have various photo chemicals in its product range and this for several decades. However, these were all discontinued in the early 2000s with the rise of digital photography and the need for Jobo to focus on its core products. Contrary to all expectations, however, analog photography is experiencing a revival and it is expected that a certain group of photographers will continue to use the medium. This and the fact that more and more people wish to develop their films at home has prompted Jobo to reintroduce a range of photochemistry products. All color development kits are made for Jobo in Japan and are completely new products geared for rotation development.
The Jobo ECN-2 Color Negative Developing Kit is a processing kit which includes all required photo chemicals for the development of color negative cine films (35mm, Super 8, 8mm, 16mm,...). The kit is especially designed especially for the rotary processing of films and is as such the ideal kit for people who have a Jobo processor. In addition to the essential components to perform the ECN-2 development process such as the color developer, stop bath, bleach, fixer and stabilizer, the kit also comes with a pre-bath that serves to remove the remjet layer from your cinema film before starting the process. This is essential. With some films this is not necessary such as the CineStill films where the remjet layer has already been removed from the factory.
The ECN-2 process must take place at a constant temperature of 41°C. Only the Jobo CPP-3 processors version 135 and higher have firmware provided for development process at such high(er) temperature. The CPP-3 processors with lower firmware can be upgraded by Jobo. Contact us for this.
The comes with concentrated solutions to make a working solution of 2.5 liter which allows the developing of up to 30 rolls of film (135-36).
The developing kit can also be used with a manual inversion process if the temperature and agitation can be fully controlled. For this we advise to use solution that can bring and keep your baths to the right temperature like the TCS-1000 from CineStill. Please note the instructions that come with the kit are focused on the use of rotary development only. If you don't have a processor, you can always use the Jobo Roller Base with your existing development tank.
