Kodak films are now available both through distributor Kodak Alaris and directly from the manufacturer, Kodak Eastman. These are the exact same films, sometimes sold under a different name. Since we can offer Kodak Eastman films at a lower price, they will eventually replace the Kodak Alaris versions.
The Kodak Eastman Tri-X 320 5x7" sheet film is a classic large-format panchromatic black-and-white negative film crafted specifically for portraiture, studio commercial work, and fine-art view camera photography. Rated at a nominal sensitivity of ISO 320, this traditional silver halide emulsion is distinguished by its smooth tonal gradations, excellent highlight separation, and enhanced shadow detail retention under controlled studio lighting, flash, or tungsten lamps.
Engineered with a retouchable base coating that allows direct pencil retouching on both the emulsion and base sides, Tri-X 320 provides sheet-film photographers with precise aesthetic control over portraits and technical setups. Its moderate contrast, fine grain structure, and generous exposure latitude allow for extensive push or pull development customization. Processed using standard black-and-white chemistry such as Kodak D-76, HC-110, or XTOL, this film delivers rich micro-textures, luminous skin tones, and unmatched tonal elegance across all sheet formats.
