Kodacolor 200 is the typical “consumer film” that defined the aesthetics of photography at the end of the 20th century. It is much more than just a standard film for beginners. It is an advanced emulsion designed for versatility, reliability and a specific “warmth” that has enjoyed a huge resurgence in the digital age. While professional films such as Portra 400 focus on accurate skin tones and pastel colours, Kodacolor 200 is designed for impact and durability.

Speed and grain structure: at ISO 200, this film is in the “Goldilocks zone” of sensitivity. It offers sufficient speed for outdoor shots and bright interiors, while maintaining a significantly finer grain than ISO 400 alternatives. It utilises Kodak's proprietary T-Grain technology in specific layers to optimise sharpness without compromising the classic organic texture of silver halide.

Colour: this film is praised for its warm colour balance. It leans towards yellow, orange and red, giving landscapes and portraits a “golden hour” glow even in the midday sun. Unlike the more clinical, neutral tones of Fuji Superia, Kodacolor 200 offers high saturation that makes blues stand out and greens feel lush.

Exposure latitude: Perhaps its most ‘forgiving’ feature is its incredible latitude. The film can handle multiple stops of overexposure while retaining detail in the highlights, making it the perfect choice for amateur photographers just starting out.
