The CineStill CS-Lite+ SpectraColor Light Source is a precision-engineered illumination tool designed to solve the most frustrating hurdle in camera-scanning: inconsistent color reproduction. Unlike standard LED light sources that often leave a muddy color cast or lack the intensity for professional results, the CS-Lite+ features a high Color Rendering Index (CRI 95+) to ensure that every nuance of your film emulsion is captured with absolute fidelity.
At the heart of this device is the innovative SpectraColor technology, which offers three distinct color temperature modes specifically tuned for different film stocks. By switching to the "Cool White" mode, you can effectively neutralize the dense orange mask of color negative films at the source, giving software like Negative Lab Pro a much cleaner starting point for conversions. Meanwhile, the "Neutral White" setting provides a balanced spectrum for vivid color slides, and the "Warm White" mode is perfectly suited for bringing out the rich, silver-halide tones of classic black-and-white photography. These film conversion modes are achieved by using the included Calibration Sheets.
The surface of the light source is meticulously designed for uniform diffusion, eliminating the "hot spots" or pixel patterns that plague lesser light sources. Built for the modern hybrid workflow, the CS-Lite+ is remarkably bright, allowing photographers to stop down their macro lenses to their sharpest apertures without sacrificing speed or risking camera shake. The two included light enhancement sheets help you get more from your film scanning setup by enhancing your light source. The sheets increase output brightness, making it more directional and uniform and also help to reduce spill. They can be trimmed to your desired size, easily applied thanks to their self-adhesive design, and even stacked for increased enhancement.
The unit is powered via a convenient USB-C connection, making it easy to integrate into a desk-bound studio or a portable scanning rig powered by a laptop or battery bank. The unit can be used stand-alone or in combination with the included CS-LiteMask set. This is a 2-piece universal film carrier mask set that pairs with existing film carriers from manufactures like Negative Supply, VALOI, Lomography, and more. Masking around the edges of the film carrier helps eliminate spill, reducing unwanted glare and maintaining uniformity across the entirety of scans.
